The last series of 2020’s Universitas Gadjah Mada Annual Scientific Conferences (UASC), which is The International Conference on Smart and Innovative Agriculture (ICoSIA), is being held on November 4-5 virtually due to the social distancing of the pandemic COVID-19. ICoSIA is an ideal academic platform for researchers to present their research results and application of technology innovation in agriculture. BPP UGM held this conference for the first time as one of the UASC series, with the committees from UGM lecturers and staff.
Even though the ICoSIA is being held virtually, it still attracts local and foreign participants to join. They are from eight different countries, which are Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Mexico, Russia, and the United States of America with a total of 72 titles registered. But, only 65 titles were accepted to present in six symposia: Agricultural Economics and Marketing Symposium, Big Data Analysis symposium, Environmental Management symposium, Precision Nutrition Technology symposium, Smart and Precision Farming symposium, and Sustainable Food Production symposium.
Speakers from three different countries were invited, they are Prof. Byoung-Kwan Cho from Chungnam National University (South Korea), Prof. Yu-Pin Lin from National Taiwan University (Taiwan), Assistant Prof. Lu Na from Chiba University (Japan), and Prof. Shau-Chun Wang from National Chung Cheng University (Taiwan) to deliver their ideas and research results in plenary sessions. The UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D. Eng, gives the opening remarks that delivered his hope for this conference to run well and significantly inspire academicians and other researchers to get big impacts in improving knowledge. Moreover, this conference output is to engage cooperation between cross-country academicians. Presented articles in ICoSIA 2020 are later to be published in Scopus-indexed IOP Publishing. [Adinda]
