Introduction

The strategic role of higher education is more popular in three key areas: (1) teaching; (2) research; and (3) community service reflected in the Tridharma of Higher Education. Gadjah Mada University is one of the universities recognized as a world-class research university. This label requires productivity and publication of research articles.

Productivity research can be applied in service to the community, but a student has an obligation to produce a paper published in the journal. According to Law No. 152 / E / T / 2012 concerning Publication of Scientific Works, the Directorate General of Higher Education imposes the following requirements: (1) postgraduate programs must produce papers published in scientific journals; (2) master program graduates should produce papers published in national scientific journals, accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education; (3) The doctoral program graduates should have resulted in papers accepted and / or published in international journals. Based on this law, Gadjah Mada University should encourage the lecturers, researchers and students to write journal articles and published in national and / or international.

80/5000 Therefore, the Agency Publication Publisher and Gadjah Mada University held Workshop on Academic Writing with Prof. Karl Hammer as speaker. This workshop covers important aspects in writing and publishing scientific articles, especially on how to compile articles, avoid plagiarism, and use formal languages.

Purpose

  1. Encourage lecturers, researchers, and students to write scientific articles and to be published in national and / or international journals.
  2. Providing knowledge about how to prepare scientific articles.
  3. Tips provide clear and good writing.

Participants

Participants in this workshop were 60 UGM postgraduate students who had texts to be published in international journals.
