Editorial Process Workshop 2021

Friday, August 13th, 2021, UGM Publishing and Publication Agency (BPP) will hold an online 2021 Editorial Process Workshop again.

The workshop, which was attended by the UGM academic community, especially lecturers, students, and UGM journal managers, aims to provide an understanding of the ins and outs of the process of publishing an article in a scientific journal so that it can minimize the potential for publication failure due to a stalled process.
In her opening remarks, Head of Publication and Journal of BPP UGM, Ratih Fitria Putri, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., said that the publication of scientific papers is now critical to boosting university rankings both at national and international levels. Therefore, BPP UGM hopes to improve the quality and quantity of colleagues’ publications at UGM. To achieve this, BPP UGM is ready to support various training programs to increase publications for the UGM academic community by presenting competent resource persons in their fields.

Dr. Eng. Sunu Wibirama, S.T., M.Eng. from the Faculty of Engineering UGM, and Dr. Siti Nurleily Marliana, M.Sc. from the Faculty of Biology was present as a resource for the workshop which guided by Dr. Purwani Istiana, M.A. from the Faculty of Geography UGM as moderator. In the first session, Dr. Eng. Sunu Wibirama, S.T., M.Eng. provide material with the topic A to Z Editorial Process from two perspectives, namely from the journal editor’s side and the author’s side. In the second session, Dr. Siti Nurleily Marliana, M.Sc., describes in detail the process of publishing scientific articles in the AJSTD journal he manages. Through the presentations from the two resource persons, participants were invited to understand the things to do and not to do in submitting scientific articles. More in-depth tips and tricks by understanding the editor’s perspective in considering the possibility of a manuscript being accepted or rejected also became material that attracted participants to better equip themselves before sending their scientific articles to the intended journal. Not only that, but participants are also provided to deal with criticism from reviewers to situations of manuscript rejection. The participants’ enthusiasm was evident from the many questions asked to the two speakers.
