Following up on the cooperation of the Tarakan City Bappeda and LPPM UGM in the preparation of the Academic Paper and the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) for Poverty Reduction in Tarakan City, a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was held. At the opening ceremony, remarks from Bappeda Tarakan were delivered by Bappeda Assistant Mrs. Mariam, while continued with the presentation of resource persons from LPPM UGM consisting of the Expert Team of LPPM UGM namely Taufiq El Rahman, S.H., M.Hum., Dra. Ike Yuli Andjani, M.Sc., Anggi Rahajeng, SE., M.Ec., and Derajad Sulistyo Widhyharto, S.Sos, M.Sc. with Drs. Dwi Santoso, M.Si. as moderator.

In her speech, Mrs. Mariam emphasized that many obstacles have been carried out for poverty alleviation but are still not running optimally because they are not well patterned”.

The Team of Experts conducted a survey into poverty areas in July, and during the FGD on 29-30 August 2013, the Team wanted to find and explore as much data as possible, from both the government and the community. The first day of FGDs invited was SKPD-SKPD Tarakan and the second day the poor.
