Universitas Gadjah Mada Publishers and Publications Board (BPP UGM) holds BioMIC for the third time on 7 & 8 October 2020. This year, the conference is quite different because it was being held virtually due to pandemic COVID-19. BioMIC 2020 is part of UGM Annual Scientific Conference in bioinformatics, biotechnology, and biomedical engineering. Even though the conference was held virtually, the foreign and local participants did not lose their interests to join. They are from 5 different countries, such as USA, Thailand, Japan, Sweden, and Indonesia. The amount submission of BioMIC 2020 participants are 87 papers, yet only 74 were accepted to be presented.
The accepted papers to be presented will be classified into 5 symposia, they are Bioinformatics and Biological Data Mining; Biomedical Sciences and Engineering; Biomolecular and Biotechnology; Drug Development and Nutraceutical; dan Public Health. This year, BioMIC invited speakers from several countries, they are Prof. Nawi Ng (University of Gothenberg, Sweden), Asocc. Prof. Kaya Yoshida (Tokushima University, Jepang), Dr. Kenji Tago (Jichi Medical University, Jepang), Prof. Taifo Mahmud (Oregon State University, United State), and Dr. Adhika Widyaparaga from Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada.
The Vice Rector for Research and Community Service, drg. Ika Dewi Ana, M.Kes., Ph.D officially opened the conference virtually. In her speech, she thankfully delivers her gratitude to each participant who has participated their innovations, research results, and insights in BioMIC 2020. As a research university, UGM is proud to be the pioneer in spreading the latest cross-disciplinary research.
In order to disseminate the sciences, the output of this year’s conference will be published in journal and indexed proceeding, such as BIO Web of Conferences, Jurnal Biomedis Indonesia, Jurnal Farmasi Indonesia, Jurnal Bioteknologi Indonesia, Jurnal Kemoprevensi Kanker Indonesia, dan Jurnal Pengobatan Tradisional which is indexed by Scopus / Clarivate Analytics / DOAJ / Sinta.
