On Monday, 16 October 2018 in Multimedia 1 Room, Central Building of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Badan Penerbit and Publikasi (BPP) UGM held the workshop and journal assistance towards Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) indexation. DOAJ is a journal indexation database site containing the list of opened-access journal around the world. DOAJ is the starting point for reference services and open access to scientific materials for easy search and access to integrated journals, making it easier for users to search for scientific journals.
Currently, DOAJ has implemented a strict policy so that the accepted journal and publisher are still of high quality. The quality control system is carried out by tiered peer review evaluating the registered journal periodically. The important thing to be considered by the journal manager before indexing a journal to DOAJ is to prepare the fixed URL for 1) submission charge (if there is no submission charge, it must be clearly stated), 2) Processing charge (if there is no processing charge, it must be clearly stated ), 3) Fee waiver (if any), 4) Digital archiving, 5) Article download statistics, 6) Editorial board, 7) Review process, 8) Aims and scope, 9) Instructions for authors (author guidelines), 10) Screening for plagiarism, 11) Open access statement, dan 12) Licensing statement (copyright notice). Moreover, the journal manager must translate the website to the English version, activate PKP-PLN LOCKS and prepare keywords to describe the journal (max. 6 terms in English). Andri Putra Kesmawan as a speaker from UGM Accelerating Journal Team presented the strategy of journal indexation to DOAJ. In addition to Andri, Siti Nurlaeily from UGM Accelerating Journal Team who is also the member of Creative Commons Indonesia was also present to deliver the material about copyright and scientific journal license to DOAJ indexation. At the end of the workshop, five UGM journals that had not been indexed were applied to DOAJ indexation. They are Journal of Management and Pharmacy Practice (https://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/jmpf), Jurnal Kesehatan Reproduksi (https://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/jkr), the Indonesian Journal of Southeast Asian Studies (https://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/ikat), Khazanah: Jurnal Pengembangan Kearsipan (https://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/khazanah), and Jurnal Perikanan (https://jurnal.ugm.ac.id/jfs) closing the session.
