BPP Holds ICoSIA 2021

The last series of the UGM Annual Scientific Conference (UASC) in 2021 is the International Conference on Smart and Innovative Agriculture (ICoSIA), held for the second time on 3rd and 4th November 2021.

UGM Vice-Chancellor for Education, Teaching and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Djagal Wiseso Marseno, M.Agr. in his opening, warmly welcomed all speakers and participants and expressed his gratitude for the participation of all parties in ICoSIA 2021 so that it can be carried out well during a pandemic that is still not over. Through this activity, ICoSIA is expected to provide scientific development, especially in the field of agriculture, and can build a scientific friendship network between researchers.

This year, ICoSIA brought four keynote speakers from various countries, namely: Prof. Herman Buerstmayr (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Austria); Prof. Kyung-Min Kim (Kyungpook National University, South Korea); Prof. Masaru Mizoguchi (University of Tokyo, Japan); and Prof. Paul Van Der Meeren (Ghent University, Belgium)

In addition to the four keynote speakers, six invited speakers both from within and outside the country, namely: Prof. Satyawan Pudyatmoko (Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia); Dr. Widiastuti Setyaningsih (Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia); Dr. Benito Heru Purwanto (Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia); Dr. Rizatus Shofiyati (Indonesian Center for Agricultural Land Resource Research Development, Indonesia); Prof. Jun Heon Lee (Chungnam National University, South Korea); and Takashi Fujikawa, Ph.D. (Institute for Plant Protection NARO, Japan)

A total of 64 participants from 6 countries, namely Indonesia, Austria, Belgium, Japan, South Korea, and the USA, virtually presented their research results through seven symposiums, namely: Agricultural Geography symposium; Big Data Analysis symposium; Environmental Management symposium; Precision Nutrition Technology symposium; Smart and Precision Farming symposium; Smart Genetics Resource Management and Utilization symposium; and the Sustainable Food Production symposium.

This year, ICoSIA collaborated with several proceedings/journals to publish the conference results, including Atlantis Press (part of Springer Nature); IOP Conference Proceedings; Indonesian Journal of Biotechnology; ASEAN Journal on Science and Technology for Development; and the journal agriTECH.
