One of the efforts to improve the quality of publications of academic works of UGM academicians is to provide an understanding of the importance of scientific paper that is free from plagiarism indication. In addition to simplify script checking, iThenticate is also a software application used by many international publishers whose results are trusted and accepted globally. In order to improve the utilization of iThenticate software, UGM BPP conducted Training of Trainer (ToT) of iThenticate Usage on Thursday, February 8, 2018 in the meeting room of Directorate of Research UGM. This activity is intended to introduce the similarity checking work system on iThenticate.
Present as an instructor, Mr. Purwoko, M.A. from UGM Library. Purwoko explained that the percentage of results indicated by the iThenticate is not entirely a determinant of plagiarism indication. Percentage of checks using iThenticate is a technical check result based on the same word/phrase level between the manuscript and the reference source and database used. Therefore, in determining the level of similarity, according to the instruction of Mr. Widodo, M.Sc., P.hD., as the head of BPP UGM, it is necessary to make SOP of the use of iThenticate as soon as possible to set the limits of plagiarism so that the application of this software can be utilized more widely by the academic community.
