BPP UGM Holds BioMIC 2021

The second series of UGM Annual Scientific Conference (UASC) in 2021 is the International Conference on Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, and Biomedical Engineering (BioMIC), held for the fourth time on October 6th and 7th, 2021. BioMIC is again being held virtually for the second time amid the Covid-19 pandemic. 19.

UGM Vice Chancellor for Research and Community Service, drg. Ika Dewi Ana, M.Kes., Ph.D., in her opening remarks, expressed her gratitude and respect to all resource persons and participants who, despite all the limitations caused by the pandemic situation, remained enthusiastic about participating in scientific forums to discuss together the theme “Artificial Intelligence, Big Data. and Precision Healthcare: A Vision of the Future” in BioMIC 2021.

This year, BioMIC brought in four keynote speakers from various countries: Prof. Joris Veltman (Newcastle University, United Kingdom), Prof. dr. Ali Ghufron Mukti (BPJS Indonesia, Indonesia), Assoc.Prof. Takuji Yamada (Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan), and Dr. Daria Guseva (University of Hohenheim, Germany). In addition to the four keynote speakers, ten invited speakers both from within and outside the country were also present, namely: Assoc.Prof. Mayumi Kamada (Kyoto University, Japan), Husna Nugrahapraja, Ph.D. (Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia), Jaka Widada, Ph.D. (Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia), Dr.Eng. Wisnu Ananta Kusuma (IPB University, Indonesia), Assoc.Prof. Arief Gusnanto (University of Leeds, United Kingdom), Anis Fuad, Ph.D. (Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia), Dr. Prashant Kumar Sharma (Groningen University, Netherlands), Prof. Retno Supriyanti (General Sudirman University, Indonesia), Dr. Lily Arsanti Lestari (Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia), and Youdiil Ophinni, Ph.D. (Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard, USA).

A total of 100 participants from (13 countries), namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Japan, India, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Italy, England, the Netherlands, and America, virtually presented their research results through five BioMIC 2021 symposiums, namely: Big Data for Public Health Policy symposium, Bioinformatics and Data Mining Symposium, Biomedical Sciences and Engineering symposium, Biomolecular and Biotechnology symposium, and Drug Development and Nutraceutical symposium.

BioMic 2021 collaborates with several proceedings/journals to publish the results of the Scopus indexed conference, including BIO Web of Conferences, Medical Journal of Malaysia, Malaysian Journal of Medicine & Health Sciences, Indonesian Biomedical Journal, Indonesian Journal of Pharmacy, Indonesian Journal of Biotechnology, and the ASEAN Journal on Science and Technology for Development.
