BPP and Springer Holds a Workshop on Book Publishing

UGM Publishers and Publications Board (BPP) teamed up with Springer to arrange a Workshop on Book Publishing for lecturers and educators in UGM environment. This workshop was attended by 41 participants and held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 in Multimedia Room II, at UGM Central Building, south side of the 3rd floor. The Head of BPP UGM, Widodo S.P., M. Sc. Ph. D opened the workshop. In his opening speech, he said that the event was held in order to enhance the UGM’s journals and books quality. It is hoped that the workshop brings a good continuous cooperation between UGM Press and Springer.

The workshop began with the presentation from Alex W Campbell, social humanities editor from Springer Singapore. In his presentation, he explained about how to prepare a good book proposal, as well as book types, strategies so that the proposal could be accepted by the publishers, matters related to book writing process, and also book publishing steps from the beginning.

In the second session, Nelly Arifyani lead the participants to practice the steps to access the SpringerLink to search book references which is aimed. Moreover, the participants could use the Springer’s online library to do the mapping so that they could set target of their book chapter.

Furthermore, Dr. Mora Claramita shared her experiences as an author that had been cooperated with Springer in book publishing. She explained about the proposal format that has to be equipped when submitted and she also shared her experience in book revision process.

At the end of the session, UGM Press and Springer continue the meeting to announce officially the cooperation in book publication. It is greatly hoped that the workshop could enhance the quality and the book publishing amount globally from UGM’s academics. [Adinda]
