UGM Press is back again this year at the Indonesia International Book Fair (IIBF) 2019. The exhibition was held at Hall A, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, Jakarta. Hundreds of local publishers attended this international book exhibition, and 20 countries were participating & contributing. UGM Press has involved in this event for the fifth time. IIBF 2019 lasts for five days, starting from September 4 to 8, 2019.

The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, in his remarks at the opening of the 2019 IIBF expressed his gratitude and thanks for the Indonesian Publisher Association (IKAPI), which consistently held book exhibition activities to reach the 39th time this year. For an event, IIBF is classified as quite long-lived. Anies also appreciated that IKAPI had optimally maintained the sustainability of the activity. He hoped that IKAPI’s consistency could lead to an increase in the literacy ability of the Indonesian people.
The excitement increased when Jusuf Kalla visited the exhibition on the last day. He also visited the UGM Press booth. UGM Press Marketing Coordinator, Febriarto Wahyu Aji, offered books published by UGM Press, including a book entitled Governance Reformation by Prof. Dr. Sofian Effendi and the book Public Administration of Decentralized Institution and State Civil Apparatus by the late Prof. Dr. Agus Dwiyanto, S.U., MPA.
Jusuf Kalla stated book exhibitions are always exciting because there are new things that are obtained, both thinking, politics, history, science, religion, and others. “That is why I am happy with this exhibition, and I see that UGM Press is the one with the most visitors from among the students,” said Jusuf Kalla.

“A new nation can advance if it is smart. New intelligent can be with science. Knowledge by reading. Without reading, how can you know? If you don’t know, how can you advance the Indonesian nation?” continued Jusuf Kalla after buying UGM Press books.
The Head of the UGM Publisher and Publication Board, Widodo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., much appreciated UGM Press for being able to participate again at IIBF as a joint effort to develop the publishing and book industry and to advance Indonesia’s literacy going forward.
“The presence of UGM Press at the 2019 IIBF can produce a good output to achieve the book marketing performance target through participation in events held by IKAPI,” Widodo said.
“I hope that the participation of UGM Press in IIBF will become a platform by anticipating various changes in the world, where there has been a convergence in the creative industry to create more added value for our economy,” he concluded. (Irwan / UGM Press)
