BPP Holds 2019 Nature Research Academies Workshop

In order to encourage UGM academics to publish research work in international journals and improve the quality of writing, BPP collaborating with the Nature Research Academies held a two-day workshop (May 2-3) entitled “Nature Research Academies Workshop 2019”. Located in the Lt. Seminar room 5 UGM Postgraduate Building, this workshop was attended by lecturers and researchers from various faculties at UGM. Present as the speaker in the workshop was Dr. Jeffrey Robens, Manager of Nature Research Editorial Development.

In a two-day workshop, Dr. Jeffrey Robens combined important materials that needed to be mastered by prospective writers. On the first day the material focused on writing techniques with case examples and achievement strategies, while on the second day the material focused on the exact way so that the articles we wrote could be accepted in quality international journals. The first day consisted of five sessions delivered about logical-writing academic writing techniques with good delivery structure, the importance of using active sentences in scientific writing, the mechanism of scientific writing framework, presentation of results /discussions/conclusions of scientific papers, and ways to make titles /abstract/good keywords. The second day consisted of five sessions that discussed the ethics of publications, strategies for submitting scripts, checking peer reviews, making posters and presentation slides, and presentation skills.

During the workshop, Dr. Jeffrey Robens delivered his presentation interactively, so the participants were very enthusiastic in attending the workshop from the beginning to the end. As a speaker, Dr. Jaffrey Robens provides an opportunity for all participants to deepen the material delivered through discussion sessions and problem-solving from the real problems faced by the participants.

The 2019 Nature Research Academies Workshop was also attended by the Vice Chancellor for Research and Community Service, UGM. Ika Dewi Ana, M.Kes., Ph.D., who also gave a speech. In his speech, drg. Ika Dewi Ana, M.Kes., Ph.D. highly appreciates the organization of workshops. “Since its founding, UGM has always tried to make a real impact on society and the repertoire of scientific developments. Therefore, the 2019 Nature Research Academies Workshop is an effort in this direction, so that workshops like this should be held on an ongoing basis.
