UGM Press received the ASEAN 2019 Book Award award trophy in the University / Research Institute category for being productive in publishing academic books. This award was given to coincide with the Kuala Lumpur International Book Festival held at PWTC Kuala Lumpur, Monday (1/4/2019).
Chairperson of the Book Award Professional Appraisal Panel, namely YBhg. Tan Sri Professor Dr. In his speech, Abdul Latiff Abu Bakar said that his team had professionally assessed academic books published by UGM Press and deserved the 2019 ASEAN Book Award, and hopefully the award received by UGM Press would further encourage Gadjah Mada University writers to continue producing high quality works as reference material and ASEAN regional and international heritage.
The 2019 ASEAN Book Award Trophy for UGM Press was immediately received by the Head of the UGM Publishing and Publication Agency, Widodo, S.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Festival which took place from March 29, dd. April 7, 2019. The award was presented by the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Haji Hasan Hamzah, on Monday, April 1, 2019, at PWTC Kuala Lumpur.
UGM Press’s efforts to be a productive publisher of publishing quality academic books have succeeded in gaining appreciation from the outside world. The 2019 ASEAN Book Award received by UGM Press is a very strategic step. “It is even a smart leap for a university publisher in order to open up the horizon of international publishing,” Widodo said.
